「水」Does Japanese water make your hair beautiful?

 Hello. Long time no see.

I'm Inarimaru, the owner of this blog.

I'm sorry that I've been pretty lazy lately.

This time, I was curious about the tweets of a woman who moved to Japan, so I'm going to write about it.

The main theme is "About the properties of water in Japan".

Please take the time to read it.

1. Does living in Japan make your hair beautiful?

The other day, there was a certain writing on Twitter.

"In a year, my hair grew faster and became healthier. Is Japanese water magical?"

That's what it was like. This woman seems to have emigrated to Japan from Russia, and the reason for this is related to the nature of water in Japan.

This is because the properties of water in Japan are very different from those in Russia and Europe. I will explain the details.

2. Water in Japan is classified as “soft water”.

Water can be divided into four types. How it is divided depends on how much minerals are contained in the water. These minerals are mainly calcium and magnesium.

According to the standards set by WHO, the amount of minerals contained in 1 liter of water is

60 mg or less = soft water

61mg to 120mg = moderately hard water

121mg to 180mg = hard water

180mg or more = super hard water

It is classified as such. And it seems that it will be classified as "soft water" unless it exceeds 120 mg. Well, the name is confusing. Wouldn't it be better to drop the name "moderately hard water"? lol

In the case of Japan, most regions have "soft water", and even in regions with a high mineral content, there are no regions that exceed 110 mg per liter. In other words, water classified as "hard water" is not naturally generated in Japan.

Conversely, in Europe, Russia, and Canada, there are many people with "hard water", and in some areas in the United States, China, and South Korea, it is "hard water".

3. Isn't "hard water" with a lot of minerals better?

Many people think that hard water is better because it contains a lot of minerals, but I can't say for sure. If there are too many minerals, it will interfere with lathering ingredients such as detergents and shampoos, resulting in poor lathering. In addition, since the water used to rinse off the shampoo contains a large amount of minerals, the minerals remain attached to the hair for a long time even after finishing the shower. That's why your hair gets stiff.

The mystery of the woman's tweet has been solved.

I moved from an area where I used to use "hard water" to Japan where I used "soft water", so my hair quality has improved. I think it's also a big factor that I can use it efficiently because the foaming of the shampoo has improved.

4. Are there any downsides to "hard water"? No such thing!

So far, I have written an introduction that "soft water" is better, but that is not the case. "Hard water" has its advantages. I will introduce it.

①You can replenish minerals that are lacking in meals alone. "Hard water", which contains a lot of minerals, is better especially when sweating, such as when exercising.

②"Hard water" is more suitable for making coffee and tea, and the taste is mellow.

③ It is effective for constipation because it stimulates the intestines. However, be careful not to drink too much as it will make you feel hungry.

And there are many situations where "hard water" is more suitable. Also, depending on the type of water used for cooking, the taste and texture may vary greatly. Japanese food tastes better when cooked with "soft water", and the quality of paella and stewed dishes seems to change depending on the type of water. If you like cooking, you may want to change the water according to the dish you want to make.

That's all for this article.

It's a pity that Japanese water doesn't have any 'special magic' effect, but I'm surprised that some people realized the difference between 'soft water' and 'hard water'. I had heard rumors about it, but I thought, "No, what is the type of water? It doesn't change that much, does it?"

No way, the nature of the water really changes the nature of the hair. That's amazing.

I will update it soon, so please come and read it to kill time.

See you later.
