「お酒」In Japan, you can drink alcohol on the streets! But...

 Hello, everyone.

This will be a short article today. Also, I'm going to change the translation tool this time. "It's hard to read. and "It's much easier to read than before. I'd like to hear your opinions. Please leave a comment if you like.

The theme this time is "Can I go out and drink alcohol on the street? It is.

I recently found out that it's illegal to drink alcohol on the street or outside of a store in many countries.

"It's different from Japan. I'm writing this article because I thought, "It's different from Japan," but I'll also tell you that things have changed in Japan recently.

Is it okay to drink alcohol while walking on the street in Japan?

The answer to this question is, "Legally, there is no problem. There is no penalty for drinking while walking on the street. There are no penalties for drinking while walking on the street, looking at the stars at night, or drinking beer on the beach or riverbank in the middle of summer. I also like to drink while looking at the cherry blossoms in spring! Just make sure you take care of your own trash!

Legally, there is no problem...

To be honest, drinking on the street doesn't give a good impression to the people around you. People get drunk, make loud noises, leave trash, and so on. In the worst case scenario, a fight may break out between the person who went to warn them and the drunk person who was drinking on the street. Noise is a problem in residential areas, and garbage is a problem in the ocean and rivers. The problem of garbage is particularly serious, and if you go to beaches in Japan, you will see that there is a lot of garbage. It's not only trash from alcohol, but there are also people who go home after a BBQ without cleaning up. It's embarrassing for me as a Japanese person.

So if you're out drinking and making a lot of noise, your impression might not be good.

A stupid incident caused by a drunk who was drinking on the street.

This happened on Halloween, 2018. I'll briefly explain what Halloween is in Japan. Halloween in Japan is "just a costume party". And the most famous one is the "Scramble Crossing in Shibuya". Every year, a large number of young people in costumes gather here. And every year there is a lot of trouble. Garbage, pickpockets, molesters, fights, etc. are often the result. The reason why this is happening is that the cosplay groups are basically drinking and making a lot of noise on the streets. And an incident happened in 2018 where this foolishness was criticized. A bunch of drunks overturned a small (two-seater) truck that was parked in a lot. By human power. The video went viral on the Internet and drew a lot of criticism. Of course, the people who did it were arrested.

This incident has made a very bad impression on the Halloween event in Shibuya, and has even led to people saying that Halloween is an event for idiots.... Halloween is a mess, and the people who did this incident can sue!

However, the truth is that "it's not Halloween that's at fault, it's the people who got together and drank and got violent. The following year, Shibuya banned drinking on the streets for about five days before Halloween.

Furthermore...

In the past two years, there has been an increase in the number of harsh opinions about drinking on the street. The reason for this is also due to "that new infectious disease". As the number of infected people increased, the Japanese government shortened the opening hours of restaurants, and also effectively banned the sale of alcohol. In other words, it became impossible to drink alcohol in stores. And what has increased is the drinking on the streets. People who usually drank in stores were gathering on the streets to drink. No, this is not so different from drinking in a restaurant, lol.

"This is an act that may encourage the spread of infectious diseases. And, as I mentioned before, the garbage and noise. It's only now that people are realizing how much of a nuisance it is to be drunk on the street. Because of this, there is now a movement to "regulate drinking on the street" in Japan, and the discussion is accelerating.

So that's it for this article.

I'm sad to think that I won't be able to drink alcohol while watching cherry blossoms in Japan anymore.

I don't want to get drunk and cause trouble for others, but I hope they will allow cherry blossoms in spring and beaches in summer.

Drinking on the street in Japan may be banned soon, so if you want to experience it, do it soon.

If you want to experience it, please do so as soon as possible, but please be moderate.

See you soon.
